Introduction
Soneva Jani, meaning ‘wisdom’ in Sanskrit, is located on the island of Medhufaru in a lagoon in the Noonu Atoll, with uninterrupted ocean views in all directions.
The lagoon is 35 minutes by seaplane from Male International Airport and one hour by speedboat from Soneva Fushi. The resort is built in a lagoon of crystal clear waters, with five islands surrounded by pure white beaches, covered in rich tropical vegetation. Four of the five islands remain untouched so it will be, by far, the lowest density development in the Maldives. Soneva Jani’s main guest facilities are located at The Gathering, the heart of the overwater villas. This dramatic three story structure is home to the main dining outlets, in addition to the spa, library, retail area and wine cellar. It is located next to the Observatory. Facilities on the island include Cinema Paradiso, the Eco Centro waste to wealth centre, organic gardens, tennis courts, water sports champa and Beach Club on a desert island in the lagoon.
Over-water Reserves and Retreats
All of Soneva Jani’s luxurious overwater and island villas are designed to offer maximum space, privacy and unforgettable views. With one to four bedrooms, the 51 Water Villas all have private pools, waterslides into the lagoon and a retractable roof over the master bedroom. Located steps from the beach, the 3 Island Reserves include private pools and expansive indoor and outdoor living space.

Soneva Jani, located in the Medhufaru lagoon in the Noonu Atoll, comprises five islands, the largest of which is Medhufaru, which is 150 acres in size. The adventure begins with a thrilling 40 minute seaplane ride from Male International Airport, a 60 minute speedboat ride from Soneva Fushi, or by a leisurely half day cruise from Soneva Fushi onboard Soneva in Aqua.
