Enjoying a Mediterranean climate, Montenegro’s coast offers dry summers and mild but rainy winters. The more central and northern regions experience a more continental climate, with temperatures varying hugely with altitude. Montenegro can be visited all year round but the best months are April – June and September/October.

Why we love it With beautiful sun-dappled waters, stunning bays and history oozing out of every cobblestoned corner, Montenegro is a delight for both nature and history lovers.

Weather Montenegro is best visited during April and October – months which are generally dry and warm. July and August can be quite hot during the day but pleasant at night.

Festivals and events Held in the fortifications of Kotor, Bokeska Noc in the third week of August sees outdoor celebrations lasting through to the early morning. The Days of Wine and Fish in Virpazar on Skadar Lake is great fun – very local, very crowded, and lots of fish and wine!
