An all-suite property providing full butler service, gourmet restaurant, a brasserie and a bar, it is perfectly placed for trips to Nairobi National Park and the capital. Hemingways Nairobi has a sophisticated and tranquil ambiance. Each of the 45 suites is a generous size, all with walk-in dressing rooms and a terrace with magnificent views of the Ngong Hills.
Hemingways Nairobi is a plantation-style boutique hotel with the Ngong Hills in the distance. 45 suites all lined with hand cut Italian marble, walk-in wardrobe, double vanity, separate toilet, bath and shower and a terrace. Personal butler service for every guest. Spa makes use of sacred rituals to cleanse and reinvigorate. Contemporary modern cuisine using locally sourced artisan producers and accompanied by the finest selection of wines.
Days 2 & 3 : Amboseli National Park
Enjoy breakfast and a briefing at Hemingways before you transfer to Wilson Airport, Nairobi, The SkySafari takes to the air. Arrive in Amboseli National Park, the second most popular wildlife area in Kenya, famous for its large population of over 1000 resident elephants and for its scenic beauty with the backdrop of the world’s highest free-standing mountain, snow-capped Kilimanjaro. Amboseli National Park covers 96,865 acres (392km2), which constitutes less than 5% of the entire 2 million acre ecosystem of the Amboseli basin crossing from Kenya into Tanzania. The lush green wetlands in this otherwise dry area make Amboseli National Park one of the best wildlife-viewing areas on the planet, attracting over 600 species of birds including pelicans, kingfishers, crakes, hammerkops, 47 types of raptors as well as the African elephant, cape buffalo, impala, hyena, giraffe, zebra, gazelle and wildebeest with lion and cheetah among the big cats that roam the area. Amboseli opens your eyes to Africa’s vast space: a photographer’s paradise. Around camp the Acacia Tortilis forest is host to many bird species and literally thousands of weaver nests hang above the tents adding a rousing dawn chorus into the mix. Tortilis Camp has unrivalled views of Kilimanjaro, rising out of the semi-arid bush studded plains – Africa’s highest mountain, and the highest free standing mountain in the world.
Winner of British Airways’ prestigious eco-tourism award, Tortilis pioneered low impact, high comfort tourism. Guests have access to a private 30,000 acre conservancy facing the mountain and can enjoy walks with experienced Masai guides, bush breakfasts and sundowners. Tortilis is famous for Northern Italian cuisine based on original family recipes. Tortilis Camp is a classic luxury safari camp with 16 tents, each of which has an en-suite bathroom, spacious veranda and glorious views of Mt Kilimanjaro. There is a main lounge, bar and dining area, all exquisitely built with natural materials and thatched roofs, with magnificent views of Kilimanjaro. Located slightly separate to the main camp, and sharing a pool, are a family tent (with two en-suite bedrooms and a private veranda) and a private house (with two en-suite bedrooms and a private living area with veranda), both with magnificent mountain views.
Days 4 – 6 : Loisaba Conservancy, Laikipia
Today transfer to the Amboseli airstrip to board your SkySafari flight to Loisaba Conservancy. On arrival enjoy a briefing about the conservancy followed by a game drive en-route to Loisaba Tented Camp where you will arrive in time for drinks & dinner. Loisaba Conservancy is outstandingly beautiful, its abundant wildlife is truly wild and its accommodation is comfortable beyond measure. Loisaba is made for adventure: guests enjoy complete freedom to choose how they spend their time so the only barrier is your own imagination. Trek through the bush with camels, enjoy a waking safari with traditional Samburu guides, mountain bike down the escarpment, raft, horseback-ride or drive through the wild canyons of the two great rivers that span the vast property.
You can also witness Loisaba’s cutting-edge conservation first-hand. Visit the conservancy headquarters to see the extraordinary work being done here and meet the sniffer dogs – Warrior, Machine, Memusi and Nanyokie – and the anti-poaching team to find out how they safeguard the wilderness. Loisaba is immense: bigger than ten of the world’s fully-fledged nations. You could take months exploring this land and never encounter the same view twice. We can assure you that you will not bump into anyone else and you will see the most extraordinary natural wonders – spectacular animal life that is wild, free and exhilarating to observe and a kaleidoscopic variety of birds, both endemic and migratory.
Perched on the edge of an escarpment with unhindered views across the Laikipia plains to Mt Kenya, Loisaba Tented Camp is the ultimate blend of sophistication and nature. A main bar, lounge and dining area with chic Africana décor, and a tantalizing infinity pool are designed to maximize on the expansive views. For the ultimate sleep on one of your nights at Loisaba consider the option of rolling a four-poster Star Bed out onto your deck and drifting off to the sounds of the bush with only the stars above you.
Days 7 – 9 : Masai Mara National Reserve
After breakfast at camp enjoy a game drive en-route to Loisaba Airstrip for your SkySafari flight to the world famous Masai Mara. Game drive en-route to Sand River Masai Mara Camp. Located on the banks of a river from which it has taken its name, Sand River Masai Mara is located within the Masai Mara National Reserve, close to the Tanzanian border. Situated on a secluded and picturesque site, the Camp replicates the heyday of exclusive permanent tented camps of the late 1920’s. The interior fixtures and furnishings mirror this period perfectly, reminding all who visit of those countless Hollywood movies that have paid homage to a classic era of African adventure.
After your first night in the Mara rise early for breakfast before a full day game drive including a Masai village visit. Enjoy a picnic lunch served in the bush. The Masai Mara is famous for its astounding numbers of wildlife. With both resident and transient populations of lion, leopard, cheetah, hyena, giraffe, elephant, to name a few, as well as over 450 bird species, the vast fertile plains are dense with game. The area has been classified among the “Seven Wonders of the World” due to the extraordinary annual migration from July to November when over 1.3 million wildebeest and zebra cross from the Serengeti to the Masai Mara in search of greener pastures.
Your last day in the Mara includes early morning and afternoon game drives plus a farewell dinner under the stars at camp.
Day 10 : Masai Mara National Reserve > Nairobi
Breakfast at camp is followed by a transfer to the airstrip for your SkySafari flight to Wilson Airport. On arrival you will be transferred privately to Hemingways Nairobi for the afternoon (a day room is available for your use) before transferring to Jomo Kenyatta International Airport for your outbound flight.
