Itinerary
Day 1 : Ljubljana > Jezersko
On arrival in Ljubljana, you will be met and transferred to your hotel in Jezersko. Literally meaning “lake”, Jezersko was once covered by a large lake that disappeared around 14th century. The wooden architecture of your boutique hotel sits in the valley, in harmony with the natural surroundings. Tonight enjoy a dinner feast at your hotel featuring local ingredients and organic produce.
Day 2 : Jezersko & Logar Valley
This morning, visit the source of the healing mineral water “Jezerske slatine” before continuing to the church of St Andrew and its beautiful frescoes and the nearby idyllic Plansar Lake. Next, drive to Logar Valley where you’ll find yourself captivated by the meadows and mighty Logar linden tree on a winding fairy tale road, with views of the towering walls of the Kamnik-Savinja Alps. Protected as a nature park, the valley is also home to one of the most incredible waterfalls in Slovenia – Rinka waterfall. Return to Jezersko.
Day 3 : Jezersko > Bled > Bohinj
Today drive to Bled, where you will visit the famous lakeside castle, enjoying lunch with breathtaking views of the mountains, lake and surrounding countryside. In a small village nearby, you will have a guided tour and presentation on beekeeping, followed by a tasting of different types of honey, honey liqueur, homemade gingerbread, pollen, and traditional cake potica. Continue to the alpine village of Bohinj, visiting the gothic St John the Baptist Church and its well-preserved frescoes from the 15th and 16th century.
Day 4 : Bohinj > Julian Alps & Soca Valley > Bovec
This morning’s journey takes you to the famous ski resort Kranjska Gora, where you can admire the Julian Alps. Continue to the Vrsic pass and drive to the Soca Valley, which offers a wonderful combination of many active experiences with cultural and historical sights. World War I left a permanent mark on the valley, with many museums, forts and churches telling the harsh stories of the past. This afternoon, embark on a rafting adventure on the Soca River. The most popular route on the river is 10 km long, running from the bridge near Log Cezsoski in the immediate vicinity of Boka Waterfall, to Trnovo ob Soci.
Day 5 : Bovec > Goriska Brda > Lipica > Stanjel
Drive to the famous Slovenian wine region of Goriska Brda and stop at one of the most prestigious wine cellars in the region to enjoy a local wine tasting experience. Continue to Lipica, home of the famous Lipizzaner white horses, before ending the day in Karst at Stanjel village, one of the area’s oldest settlements and showpiece of Karst architecture and culture.
Day 6 : Stanjel > Postojna > Ljubljana
Depart in the morning for Postojna Cave, the most visited cave in Europe and one of the largest Karst landmarks in the world. After a guided tour of the cave, drive to nearby Predjama Castle, partly recessed into the cave in the middle of a cliff. Continue your journey to Ljubljana, the capital of Slovenia. Enjoy a walking tour of some of the most significant sights of the old city centre, such as the picturesque Central open-air market and the Three Bridges, both designed by famous architect Joze Plecnik, as well as the Baroque Town Hall and Robba’s Fountain. While touring Ljubljana you will stop at “Klobasarna” where you will taste famous Kranjska sausage with a glass of wine or beer. You can spend the rest of the day on your own or following suggestions from your guide.
Day 7 : Ljubljana
You will be privately transferred to the airport in Ljubljana to meet your onward flight.
