Gardens by the Bay 
The perfect spot for getting away from the hustle and bustle of the city. Here you will find a variety of attractions across the three distinctive waterfront gardens including the Cloud Forest, SuperTree Grove and Art Sculptures.

Botanic Gardens
Another oasis away from the city, the Botanic Gardens offer tranquil walking trails, heritage trees, eco gardens, bonsai gardens and the National Orchid Garden.

Raffles Hotel 
Did you even go to Singapore if you didnt visit the famous Raffles Hotel? This beautiful colonial building is one of the last 19th century hotels and a one of the best places to the enjoy a  ‘Singapore Sling’ in the Long Bar.

Clarke Quay
Known for its great waterfront dining and entertainment, Clarke Quay is a historical riverside quay known as a great place to unwind after a days sightseeing.

Sentosa Island 
Sentosa is a fun place to relax and there is plenty to do! From the fabulous aquarium to the butterfly park to the fantastic waterpark – it is a great place to unwind and have a bit of fun.

Located a mere 1.5 degrees north of the Equator, the weather is usually sunny with no distinct seasons. Rain falls almost daily throughout the year, usually in sudden, heavy showers that rarely last longer than an hour. However, most rainfall occurs during the northeast monsoon (November to January), occasionally featuring lengthy spells of continuous rain. Spectacular thunderstorms can occur throughout the year, any time during the day, so it’s wise to carry an umbrella at all times, both as a shade from the sun or cover from the rain.

Singapore is one of my favourite stopover destinations – not only for its cleanliness and its fabulous shopping (ladies take note of the shoe shops) but also how easy it is to get around by taxi, on foot or on the metro.

It is one of those countries which seems to continuously build on its reputation of fascinating architecture, from the famous Jewel waterfall at Changi Airport to the incredible Marina Bay Sands Hotel with its mind-blowing rooftop infinity pool.

There is always something to do in Singapore and it’s really hard to get bored….. but if I had to pick one experience not to be missed it would have to be enjoying a Singapore Sling at the fabulous Raffles Hotel. Singapore is also home to some beautiful gardens, notably Gardens by the Bay, known for its Supertree grove which comes alive with colour at night.

Make the time to stopover – you won’t regret it! (and save some space in your luggage for the shoes!).

Social customs & quirks This beautiful and clean city-state comes at a price. Singapore is renowned by locals as the “Fine City” because ticketsare often dished out for minor offenses. Luckily, the new government that was introduced in 1990 has undertaken many social reforms, one being the liberalization of some of the stricter, more obsolete laws.

Festivals & events In Singapore, cultures thrive side by side.  With the high population of Chinese residents, Chinese New Year is among the most popular festivals of the year. Spectacular parties take place during mid-January and mid-February, complete with dragon dancers, food displays, performances and fireworks.
