Day 1 : Waingapu City > Kadumbul

Upon your arrival in Waingapu City on Sumba Island in Indonesia, you will be warmly welcomed and transferred to your hotel, Tanoma Sumba. En route, you have the option to pause at Walakiri Beach, where you can bask in the serene ambience and witness your inaugural Sumba sunset. Renowned as one of East Sumba Regency’s finest coastal treasures, this beach captivates visitors with its enchanting mangrove-fringed shores. As the sun descends, it casts a spellbinding silhouette against the tranquil mangrove forest, painting the sky with hues of gold and crimson.

Day 2 : Kadumbul

After breakfast, you will journey south to Waimarang Waterfall, nestled in the heart of the jungle. Discovered by a local boy named Eric while gathering firewood, he envisioned accessibility for all. Eric’s wish materialised into reality as a road was built, allowing you to experience this marvel. The trek to the waterfall takes about 30 minutes on a well-marked path. Upon arrival, you will find a serene pool for swimming before reaching the main cascade, enclosed by rugged stone walls. Afterwards, we visit Priayawang Traditional Village, renowned for its peaked houses and Megalith Tombs. Here, immerse in Sumbanese culture and traditions before returning to your hotel.

Day 3 : Kadumbul > Malumbi

Today you will continue your exploration of East Sumba Regency. Your first stop is Savannah Puru Kambera, a haven for Sumba Horses amid golden tones reminiscent of African savannahs. Witness these majestic creatures used for farm work and the annual Pasola Festival (which takes place every year around February and March), showcasing traditional Sumbanese sport. Next, you will explore Tangdendu Waterfall, often likened to the Grand Canyon for its breathtaking cliffs and water flow. Then, you will unwind at Pura Kembera Beach, offering soft sand and tranquil waters for swimming and snorkelling. Enjoy a traditional Sumbanese lunch before our transfer to Morinda Villa. Your Deluxe King room boasts simple but comfortable rooms with spectacular views of lush hills and a meandering river. Arrive in time for sunset, savouring refreshments amidst nature’s splendour.

Day 4 : Malumbi > Lamboya

Start your day with a sunrise kayak excursion, paddling along the river amid stunning hills. After breakfast, embark on a 3.5-hour journey to Lapopu Waterfall in Lamboya Regency. Along the picturesque route linking East Sumba to the West, you will navigate an uneven road leading to the hidden waterfall entrance. A short 15-minute jungle walk brings us to the foot of the moss-covered rocks, where the pure mountain spring cascades over 100 metres into a serene pool. Weather permitting, an optional trek to Matayangu Waterfall can be arranged, offering three falls, one with turquoise waters from an underground limestone aquifer. Expect a challenging trek through Manure National Park, rewarding your sense of adventure. Finally, head south to your hotel, Alamayah on the Lamboya coastline.

Day 5 : Lamboya

Your stay includes access to yoga equipment, surfboards, mountain bikes, snorkelling equipment, stand-up paddle boards plus nature walks or immerse yourself in authentic local life by visiting Waru Wora Village (donation-based), where many resort staff reside.

• Explore Sumba’s renowned surfing spots with a lesson from the resort’s surf guide.
• Guided mountain bike tour from Sumba Pasola grounds to Marossi Beach for breathtaking views and cultural immersion.
• Experience the iconic Sumba tradition of swimming with horses, riding along the beach and taking a dip in the ocean with your equine companion amidst the stunning Sumba landscape.

Day 6 : Lamboya > Kodi

Today venture westward to explore the less-developed regions of Sumba. Here, untouched by heavy tourism, you will encounter the authentic essence of Sumbanese life—an immersive experience fondly referred to as “Cowboy Country.” Your journey includes a stop at Waikelo Sawah for a delightful waterfall trek. Discover a pristine cave waterhole and turquoise pools nestled amidst picturesque rice paddies—a serene oasis perfect for relaxation. Continuing to Kodi, you will reach Cap Karoso, a charming beachfront property where you will spend your final two nights in a Beach Suite. Embrace the tranquil coastal vibes and soak in the beauty of Sumba’s untouched landscapes as you conclude your adventure.

Day 7 : Kodi

After breakfast, join a Cap Karoso team member for a bike ride to Laguna Weekuri, a serene lagoon renowned for its stunning blue waters. “Weekuri” originates from Sumbanese, meaning “water splash,” inspired by coral formations splashing water onto the mainland. The lake’s unique hues stem from the blend of freshwater and seawater through coral cracks, offering varying shades of blue and turquoise. Enjoy paddle-boarding in the lake before cycling to Mandorak Beach, an exquisite spot nestled between large rocks. After lunch, pedal to a local village to witness Kodinese life, distinct from other parts of the island due to its recent exposure to tourism. Experience the authentic Sumbanese lifestyle before returning to the hotel to conclude your Sumba journey.

Day 8 : Kodi > Tambolaka

After breakfast, enjoy some leisure time before being transferred to the airport where your journey concludes.
