Introduction
Explore authentic Tuscany, staying in charming boutique hotels throughout small towns where you can live in true ‘Tuscan style’.
Meet our local guides and savour Tuscan cuisine at our favourite restaurants. Beginning your journey in Florence, travel through Siena, San Gimignano, Chianti, Cortona, and Arezzo.
Itinerary
Day 1 : Florence > Siena
Arrive in Florence and transfer to Siena, where you will stay in the historic centre with easy access to the famous monuments in the city. Dinner this evening in a typical Tuscan restaurant.
Day 2 : Siena
Enjoy a morning walking tour of the enchanting medieval town of Siena with your enthusiastic guide. Afternoon at leisure.
Day 3 : San Gimignano
After breakfast drive to San Gimignano and meet your guide for a tour of this charming small town famous for its hundreds of towers. San Gimignano is also famous for the Vernaccia white wine, so this afternoon join a wine tasting experience at a local vineyard before returning to your hotel in Siena.
Day 4 : Siena > Chianti > Cortona
Drive to Chianti to visit Castellina, Radda and Gaiole followed by wine tasting at an excellent vineyard. Continue to Cortona and check in to your hotel – a restored mansion, declared by the Ministry of Art as a National Monument. The hotel is a few steps from the main square, and the major attractions of the Cortona MAEC (Museum of Etruscan Academy and of the City of Cortona), Diocesan Museum and Signorelli Theatre. Live Cortona style, where people still walk the city and time feels as if it has stopped. Dinner at a local restaurant.
Day 5 : Cortona
Morning tour of Cortona with your local guide. Cortona is one of the oldest hill towns and best-preserved Etruscan cities in Tuscany; perched on a hilltop it offers magnificent views of vineyards, olive groves and Lake Trasimeno. The town is also known as the birthplace of the Renaissance painter Luca Signorelli and you can see many of his masterpieces. Afternoon at leisure.
Day 6 : Arezzo
Drive to Arezzo and meet your guide for a walk through the old town centre of Arezzo. Follow in the footsteps of great artists like Cimabue, Piero della Francesca, Lorenzetti and Vasari. Lunch in a typical restaurant before you transfer back to your hotel in Cortona.
Day 7 : Arezzo > Florence
Transfer to Florence airport or railway station.
