Introduction
Explore the tango capital of the world, Buenos Aires, before travelling to the winelands.
Dominated by the Andes and surrounded by world class Malbec grape vineyards and olive groves, Mendoza is a delight, and a must for wine-lovers. End your time with a visit to unquestionably the world’s most spectacular waterfalls at Iguazu, where hundreds of cataracts tumble in a stunning sub-tropical rainforest setting. Itinerary
Day 1 : Buenos Aires
You will be met and transferred to your hotel.
Day 2 : Buenos Aires
Enjoy a city tour including visits to colourful historic area of La Boca and the Plaza de Mayo, where Evita spoke those now famous words ‘Don’t cry for me Argentina’ from the balcony of the Casa Rosada. Continue through the elegant residential district of Palermo, and visit Evita’s gravesite inside the amazing Recoleta Cemetery. This evening enjoy an outstanding dinner and tango show.
Day 3 : Buenos Aires
Enjoy a ‘parrilla’ walking tour in either San Telmo or Palermo. Parrilla’s are Argentine restaurants offering traditional cuisine. Tour a variety of local restaurants and taste authentic Porteno wines and cuisine with your expert foodie guide.
Day 4 : Buenos Aires > Mendoza
Fly to Mendoza, a charming city at the very foot of the Andes. This area was originally settled by European immigrants, who came to establish vineyards that today produce delicious Malbec and many other fine wines.
Day 5 : Mendoza
Enjoy a morning tour of Mendoza and learn of its history spanning four centuries. Visit Pedro del Castillo Square founded in 1561 and see the San Francisco ruins. The final stop is at an olive oil factory to learn about the production process and enjoy a tasting.
Day 6 : Mendoza
Enjoy a full day of visits to wineries in the area. Head north to Lujan de Cuyo and Maipu Valley, widely accepted as one of the best wine regions in Latin America, where great quality grapes are cultivated and recognised as the birthplace of the Malbec variety. Experience tastings at three different wineries, with lunch included.
Day 7 : Mendoza > Iguazu Falls
Transfer to the airport and fly to Iguazu where you are met and transferred to your hotel. Located on the border between Argentina and Brazil, the waterfalls at Iguazu are unquestionably the most spectacular found on the planet and an amazing natural phenomena. It is essential to see the falls from both sides as each died offers a completely different vista.
Day 8 : Iguazu Falls
Cross into Brazil. Seeing the waterfalls from the Brazil side is panoramically stunning, as you view the majority of the falls looking back across the river into Argentina. The sheer volume of water will blow you away! Also included today will be a visit to the excellent Parque des Aves bird and wildlife park – possibly the best nature park of its kind in all South America.
Day 9 : Iguazu Falls
Explore the Argentine side of the falls including the impressive ‘Devils Throat’ cataract. Enjoy a very scenic walk catwalks underneath and amongst the waterfalls. After visiting the falls in the morning, you will be transferred to the airport for your departure flight.
