Introduction
Why not join in the greatest party on earth, the iconic Carnival in Rio? Held annually in the days leading up to Lent, the carnival sees the whole of Brazil in celebration mode with street parades and parties that culminate in a crescendo of colour in the grand parade.
Held over two nights, eight Samba clubs (known locally as ‘schools’) parade each night. In each ‘school’ there are 5000 performers dressed in amazing costumes and accompanied by some incredibly ornate floats. Come and join in – you will not believe how much fun it can be!
Itinerary
Day 1 : Arrive Rio de Janeiro
Private transfer on arrival to your hotel situated in the Copacabana Beach area. For the 4-star option a Superior Limited Ocean View Room at the Windsor Excelsior or for the 5-star option a Superior City View Room at the Copacabana Palace, a Belmond Hotel.
Day 2 : Rio de Janeiro
Enjoy a private half-day tour to visit one of the highlights of Rio, the 38-metre-tall Christ The Redeemer statue. Enjoy a 20-minute tram ride up through the dense Tijuca rain forest to the top where you can see most of the city, all the south zone, and to Niteroi. A breathtaking view that will astound you! The afternoon is free to swim or perhaps shop in the smart boutiques of Ipanema, situated just a short distance from Copacabana. In the evening transfer with other guests to experience the grand parade as some 40,000 performers from 8 samba ‘schools’ compete to win the grand prize.
Days 3 & 4 : Rio de Janeiro
Enjoy the next two days at leisure and spend some time exploring the city and soaking up the atmosphere. Additional parade tickets can be included for an additional cost.
Day 5 : Depart Rio de Janeiro
Private transfer to the airport or if you wish, stay longer, and enjoy more of the fun!
