Lelapa Lodge

Lelapa means ‘family’ in the local Setswana language. With its friendly staff and open guest areas, you’ll enjoy an atmosphere of easy sociability. The main lodge invites enlivened gatherings, while the individual accommodations provide the perfect retreat for tranquil privacy. Four of the lodge’s 12 Deluxe Suites are for families, giving you and your kids your own space to enjoy time together – kept stress-free, with every comfort and convenience provided.

Kopano Lodge

Those who prefer their own space will appreciate the small, intimate environment of Kopano Lodge. With just four Suites, you are promised a very personal experience. Book an individual Suite or book the whole lodge out exclusively. The main lodge’s living spaces – a dining area, fireplace lounge with library, generously furnished deck, and boma raised above the bush, are yours to enjoy, along with resplendent views over the savannah. Each Luxury Suite has a private lounge, viewing deck, open-air shower and plunge pool – ideal positions from where to spot the wildlife. From your Suite’s raised viewing deck, you can happily stare out at the plains, drinks and snacks within reach, for hours – we call this ‘bush TV’ and it is riveting. During your stay you should see elephant, giraffe, zebra and various buck make appearances. Children older than 16 are welcome.

Dithaba Lodge

Offering spectacular views over the open plains, and with only 4 Suites (each with private plunge pool), this lodge is well suited to a group of friends or family members making it their own while on safari. Here you’ll find a balance between the exclusivity of your own retreat and warm, attentive hospitality – ideal if you’re after me time or quality time with your nearest and dearest. Either way, you’ll find the main lodge’s shared guest areas great for gatherings, with sundowners on the Star Deck and festive bush dinners around the boma fire. It’s a casually luxurious lodge, where reed-thatch Suites – each featuring a comfortable lounge, elevated deck, private plunge pool, and outdoor shower – come with panoramic views across the savannah. Pull up the loungers to sunbathe, while looking out for animals, or stargaze – clear nights and a wide horizon provide the perfect conditions. Children of all ages are welcome if the lodge is booked exclusively.

Game Drives

Lion, elephant, black and white rhino, buffalo and leopard are all here in abundance, as well as cheetah, giraffe and both spotted and brown hyena and you have the chance of seeing any of these species. Madikwe is also the one of the best places in Southern Africa to watch the elusive and rare wild dog, a fascinating species on the brink of extinction. Your guide will share their wealth of knowledge with you, from the fascinating private life of the dung beetle to the intricacies of the wild dog’s social system. There are two daily game drives, each timed to make the most of the periods when the game is the most active, one in the early morning and another in the late afternoon. The afternoon drive, after a brief stop to enjoy sundowners, continues into the night, a shielded spotlight revealing the nocturnal wildlife of the bush.

Game Walks

For an even more in-depth exploration of the bush, a game walk is essential. A highly educational and uniquely enlightening experience, your armed and experienced guide will lead you along game paths in the footsteps of the animals, allowing you to feel the thrill of walking through this wild environment. Away from the noise and disturbance of the game drive vehicle, guests are able to experience the more subtle nuances of the bush – the sounds, smells and textures of the surroundings can be appreciated. The walks are planned according to the interests and abilities of the guests and are a highly recommended experience! (Please note that guests under the age of 16 years are not permitted on walks. Guests over the age of 60 are required to produce a medical certificate stating that they are fit for such an activity.)
