Introduction
The Andean Explorer, a Belmond train, is South America’s first luxury sleeper train, transporting just 46 guests through Peru in style.
Travel between Arequipa to Cuzco in luxury and style, savouring unforgettable indulgence as you are whisked through Peru’s most spectacular destinations, including the spellbinding Lake Titicaca. Inviting, indulgent accommodation and refined Andean cuisine guests can also enjoy the observatory, lounge, spa and two dining cars.
The Train: Twin or double cabins offer a soothing blend of signature Peruvian accents and in-built oxygen for additional comfort at high altitudes. All cabins feature en suite bathroom with shower, washbasin and water closet, wardrobe, air conditioning, oxygen tanks and masks, robe and slippers, medical assistance onboard.
Bunk Bed Cabins: These cozy cabins are 5.5 sqm in size featureing a long banquette that transforms into comfortable upper and lower single berths.
Twin Bed Cabins: During the day, these 7.4 sqm cabins are configured with a long banquette and comfy seats. Stewards convert this into two ground-level single beds come nightfall.
Suite Cabins: These 13.1 sqm cabins feature a plush double bed and cozy seating area with two chairs and a table. They are also fitted with a compact wardrobe, en suite with shower, and washbasin.
Itinerary
Day 1 : Arequipa
Board the train in the Baroque city of Arequipa for your 8.00pm departure. Take some time to get comfortable in your cabin and relax in the indulgent atmosphere of the train as you begin your journey towards Puno. Then enjoy one of the elegant dining cars for your first dinner on board. Relax and savour refined Andean dishes served with contemporary flair. After dinner, why not head to the bar car and enjoy a cocktail as you get to know your fellow travellers.
Day 2 : Lake Titicaca
Awake early and witness the sunrise across Lake Titicaca. Breakfast is served on board; the perfect set up for a day full of adventure. After breakfast you explore Lake Titicaca, the highest navigable lake in the world and home to many diverse islands, each boasting a unique way of life. First take a traditional boat to the Uros (floating) Island, a man-made island artfully constructed from interwoven reeds which are constantly being replenished. The people who live on the island use the same reeds to create homes, ships and tools. Savour a delectable lunch on board as the train departs for La Raya. En route enjoy cocktails, canapes and the gorgeous views. As evening descends enjoy another tempting dinner in the dining carriage.
Day 3 : Cuzco
Wake to a delicious breakfast, accompanied by stunning views as the sun rises over La Raya. As the train nears Cuzco tuck into a delicious brunch in the bar cars. All too soon the journey comes to an end with arrival into Cuzco’s Wanchaq Station at 1.30 pm. Bid farewell to your crew and disembark for your onward travel arrangements.
