Sister to the celebrated Belmond Hiram Bingham train, your time aboard promises to be every bit as inspiring as your off-board moments of discovery. Inviting, indulgent accommodation and refined Andean cuisine ensure an unforgettable journey. Observatory, Lounge, Spa and two Dining cars are the perfect places to unwind, designed to offer modern comfort with traditional flourishes.
"I wanted to connect the interior with the location and make it a holistic journey of discovery. The 'journey' starts with the immediate surroundings - a place to calm the senses, enable a new state of 'slow living' and relaxation whilst connecting with nature. Colours and textures are inspired by Peruvian nature - soft Ivory Alpaca tones, Andean slate greys and woven textures and handicrafts - inspirations from the interior designer Inge Moor, The Gallery, London. Accommodation on board consists of 2 deluxe double bed cabins, 6 junior double bed cabins, 11 twin bed cabins and 5 bunk bed cabins - all with their own private facilities.
Day 1 (Sat) : Arequipa Board the train in the Baroque city of Arequipa for your 8.00pm departure. Take some time to get comfortable in your cabin and relax in the indulgent atmosphere of the train as you begin your journey towards Puno. Then enjoy one of the elegant dining cars for your first dinner on board. Relax and savour refined Andean dishes served with contemporary flair. Before dinner, why not head to the bar car and enjoy a cocktail as you get to know your fellow travellers.
Day 2 (Sun) : Lake Titicaca Awake early and witness the sunrise across Lake Titicaca. Breakfast is served on board; the perfect set up for a day full of adventure. After breakfast you explore Lake Titicaca, the highest navigable lake in the world and home to many diverse islands, each boasting a unique way of life. First take a traditional boat to the Uros (floating) Island, a man-made island artfully constructed from interwoven reeds which are constantly being replenished. The people who live on the island use the same reeds to create homes, ships and tools. Continue your exploration to Taquile Island, notable for its stunning agricultural terraces. The people here follow a social code that has been barely touched by time, and their handwoven fabrics are regarded as the best in Peru. Enjoy lunch at Collata beach, followed by a performance from local dancers and a demonstration of artisans at work. Return to the station at the lake for a delicious afternoon tea. Board the train and relax as the journey continues on to Cuzco. As evening descends enjoy pre dinner cocktails before another tempting dinner in the dining carriage.
Day 3 (Mon) : Cuzco Wake to a delicious breakfast, accompanied by stunning views as the train sets off from Marangoni. Along the way, disembark to visit Raqchi. Once an important Inca settlement, today this fascinating archaeological site boasts many architectural gems. Then enjoy a light lunch on board the train before arriving at Cuzco, the former capital of the Inca empire. Bid farewell to your crew and disembark the train at approximately 1.15pm.
