Belmond Grand Hibnerian Belmond Grand Hibernian boasts accommodation for up to 40 guests in elegant, private en-suite cabins. Design draws inspiration from Dublin's classic Georgian architecture, blended with elements of ancient folklore and tradition. The train offers 16 twin and four double cabins for truly indulgent train journeys. All cabins are en-suite, with additional features including a wardrobe, writing desk and chair. Large windows let you admire the verdant landscape as it unfolds.
Day 1: Dublin > Cork > Charleville Embark at Dublin Heuston Station in the early afternoon and enjoy a sumptuous Irish afternoon tea as the train weaves its way through the lush Irish countryside to Cork, a recent European Capital of Culture. You are accompanied by the resident expert on an early evening tour of the historic Jameson distillery, home to the world's largest pot still, where you can taste a nip or two. Rejoin the train for a leisurely dinner followed by lively entertainment in the Observation Car.
Day 2: Charleville > Cork > Killarney > Thurles Breakfast is served as the train travels south for a visit to Blarney Castle, home to the legendary Blarney Stone. Enjoy a private tour with an opportunity to kiss the stone in traditional style, followed by morning coffee in magnificent Blarney House. Lunch is served as the train continues west through emerald hills towards Killarney on the shores of Lough Leane. A fun ride in a traditional jaunting car (pony and trap) takes you through the beautiful national park to scenic Ross Castle, where you enjoy a boat trip around the islands of the lake. After a delicious dinner on the train, local musicians will surely inspire you to leap to your feet for some traditional ceili!
Day 3: Thurles > Galway > Athlone The train heads west towards Limerick. Enjoy a leisurely morning on board as the train makes its way to Galway, known for its vibrant lifestyle and festive atmosphere. On arrival in Galway a lunch of local specialties is served in a lively restaurant. Afterwards, have the option to take a walking tour among the castles, cathedral and other highlights of the historic city centre or a coach tour through the Clare countryside to the iconic Cliffs of Moher, towering over the Atlantic waves. Returning to the train, dinner will be served as you bid farewell to Galway and Ireland's dramatic west coast. Overnight in Athlone, at the heart of the Emerald Isle.
Day 4: Athlone > Westport > Roscommon Breakfast is served enroute to the leafy Georgian town of Westport. Disembark here for a visit to Ashford Castle in the heart of Connemara National Park, where a unique falconry demonstration has been arranged along with a guided walk through the breathtaking grounds of the estate. Following lunch in the castle sit back and relax for a scenic drive through County Mayo to rejoin the train in Westport in time for predinner drinks.
Day 5: Dublin > Belfast > Dundalk Breakfast is served as you return to Dublin for your optional tour of its superb cultural treasures, quirky pubs and lively shops. Later, rejoin Belmond Grand Hibernian in the early afternoon. L unch is served on board as the train travels north through the green Irish countryside. On arrival in Belfast take yourself back in time as you visit The Titanic Experience, an awardwinning visitor attraction that brings to life, through special effects, fullscale reconstructions and innovative interactive features, the history of the celebrated but illfated ocean liner in the city where it all began. Back on board a leisurely dinner is followed by evening entertainment. Overnight in Dundalk.
Day 6: Dundalk > Waterford > Bagenalstown This morning the train journeys south to the historic Viking port of Waterford. Disembark to visit Curraghmore House, home to generations of the Waterford family, where you enjoy an exclusive tour and afternoon tea. The magnificent mansion boasts some of the finest neoclassical rooms in Ireland while its expansive formal gardens include an intriguing shell house built by Catherine, Countess of Tyrone, in 1754. You are then escorted to the House of Waterford Crystal for a fascinating factory tour, which reveals how master craftsmen still create sparkling pieces by hand. Return to the train for a sumptuous dinner, which is rounded off with a performance by traditional local musicians in the Observation Car. Overnight in Bagenalstown, also known locally as Muine Bheag, on the River Barrow in County Carlow.
Day 7: Bagenalstown > Dublin A leisurely breakfast is served as the train travels north and returns to Dublin Heuston Station, your journey's end.
