Taxco & Cuernavaca
This privately guided excursion from Mexico City will take you to some beautiful colonial towns and the 'Silver City' of Taxco.
Day 1: Mexico City > Cuernavaca > Taxco You will be collected from your Mexico City hotel or the airport and travel through lovely mountain scenery into the neighbouring valley to Cuernavaca, known as the 'City of Eternal Spring'. In Cuernavaca enjoy a short stop to see the Palacio de Cortes, Cuernavaca's Cathedral and the former archbishops house, which houses Robert Brady's collection of architecture, handicraft and artwork.
Then you will continue driving into the mountains of southern Sierra Madre to reach Mexico's traditional silver city, Taxco. Enjoy a walk here through the picturesque historical town settled on several hills and see a beautiful baroque church in the centre.
Winding lanes will lead you to Borda's main square, where you enter Taxco's House of Culture and the Christian Church. You will also have some time to explore the traditional silver market and galleries. Then transfer to the lovely Pueblo Lindo Hotel situated in the heart of Taxco's historical centre. Cool off in the hotel pool which offers spectacular views of the parish of Santa Prisca. There is also a beautiful terrace and restaurant from which to see sunsets and views over the city.
Day 2: Taxco > Xochicalco > Tepoztlan > Mexico City (B) Enjoy breakfast before a short morning transfer to Xochicalco, located on the top of a hill it is considered one of the richest archaeological sites in Mexico. During your visit climb the different levels to reach the impressive temple dedicated to rain god Tlaloc, who's image is depicted in stone carvings in the temple's basement. Continue to Tepoztlan. Mexico's most alluring and unique colonial town where you can enjoy lunch (at your own expense) and then visit the beautifully preserved convent dating back to colonial times.
In the late afternoon return to Mexico City and transfer to your hotel or the airport.
