Yukon Winter Adventure & Spa ex Vancouver
Travel to the Yukon to witness the spectacular northern lights. To the north an eerie, sulfurous-green sheen begins to ripple into the night sky. It arcs itself into an ebb and flow, slowly growing, then suddenly bursts across the full expanse of the night sky waving and dancing as if it were happy. It's the spectacular and mystical Northern Lights and viewings such as the one above are common in the Yukon.
Day 1: Vancouver > Whitehorse & Evening Aurora Viewing Depart Vancouver Airport for Whitehorse.
Upon arrival, transfer to your hotel in downtown Whitehorse. The hotel is located within walking distance of all attractions, restaurants, banks and stores. We will have an informational meeting and registration for optional tours at the hotel. Take your time for fitting the winter clothing (optional), shopping and dinner on your own.
At 9.30 pm depart for Aurora viewing. A cozy, heated cabin or wall tent with hot drinks and snacks makes your Aurora viewing even more enjoyable. Return to hotel around 2.00 am.
Day 2: Whitehorse > Northern Lights Resort & Spa At 10:00 am commence on a city tour of Whitehorse that includes the following stops: Main Street, Train Depot of the White Pass and Yukon Route, Visitor Reception Center, Log Skyscraper, Log Church, Sternwheeler SS Klondike, Fish ladder, Schwatka Lake and some residential areas.
Leaving Whitehorse mid afteroon transfer to the Northern Lights Resort & Spa.
Relax, unwind and soak up the peaceful ambiance. Located just 20 minutes south of Whitehorse, this little piece of paradise is the Yukon's newest get-away destination - a hideaway located in a quiet open countryside close to the Yukon River, surrounded by pine forests and ringed by mountains. Built from massive Douglas Fir and to meet European standards by your German-Canadian hosts, the 3,600 sq/ft lodge features a luxurious great room for guest gathering, relaxing, breakfast and dinner use with a dramatic panoramic view of the Yukon River valley and the mountain range. Guests stay in cozy guest rooms with large en-suite bathrooms in the lodge or in well-appointed 320 sq/ft. cottages featuring a large living/bedroom with fireplace, an adjacent kitchen and an en-suite bathroom.
The spa & wellness area is located in the main building and features a Finnish sauna, infrared sauna, whirlpool, rest room and a room for massage treatments. The surroundings are perfect for relaxing in the guest lounge, the large deck or the privacy of your own cottage, enjoying the spectacular views of the Northern Lights in winter. The open area surrounding the lodge allows obscured views of the soaring Aurora!
In the evening enjoy a delicious 3 course dinner. After the dinner make sure to stay up to view the mystical Aurora Borealis. Watch them dancing either from the hot tub, the open field or from the cozy inside "“ you will have a great outlook towards North from anywhere.
Day 3: Evening Aurora Viewing Wake up to a healthy European-style breakfast and spend your day relaxing in the lodge in front of the fireplace. Talk with your host about breakfast times. Since you will be up late the night before, you may not want to have breakfast too early. Go snowshoeing, or plan a day out dogsledding (optional tours). Enjoy the sauna and a massage treatment in the spa (extra charge). Or simply relax in the outdoor hot tub on the large deck under the breathtaking northern sky. In the evening, after dinner, you can stay up late again to view the Aurora Borealis.
Day 4: Northern Lights Resort & Spa > Whitehorse Breakfast at the lodge. The morning is at your leisure or you can plan an optional day tour (need to be booked in advance). Transfer back to your hotel in downtown Whitehorse at 11.00am or after your optional day tour. At 9.30pm depart for your last night of Aurora viewing at the Northern Tales Trading Post. Return to the hotel around 2.00am.
Day 5: Whitehorse > Vancouver Transfer to Whitehorse airport for your return flight to Vancouver.

Please Note • For constellation photography bring 35 mm SLR manual camera, ASA 400 film or faster, tripod and cable release. • Average temperatures at the this time of winter are between minus 2 Degrees and minus 24 Degrees Celsius, but extremes may be as low as minus 45 Degrees Celsius. We ask you to bring proper clothing to withstand these temperatures. You can buy winter clothing in Whitehorse or rent a clothing package.
